Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather My Supplies
Before I get started, I make sure to gather all my supplies: floral foam, a beautiful vase, floral tape, floral wire, my trusty pruning shears, a watering can, some decorative ribbon, flower food, scissors, and any other decorative elements I want to use.
Step 2: Prepare the Floral Foam
I take the floral foam and soak it in water mixed with flower food until it’s fully saturated. This will help keep my flowers fresh and lively!
Step 3: Cut the Floral Foam to Fit the Vase
Once the foam is wet, I trim it to fit snugly into the bottom of my vase. The goal is to have it sit comfortably without any gaps.
Step 4: Secure the Floral Foam
Using the floral tape, I attach the floral foam to the bottom of the vase. I create a cross pattern with the tape to hold it in place firmly.
Step 5: Prep My Flowers
Now comes the fun part! I select a variety of holiday flowers and greenery. With my pruning shears, I trim the stems at an angle to allow for better water absorption.
Step 6: Arrange the Flowers
I start placing the larger blooms into the foam first, as the focal points, and then work my way down to the smaller flowers and greenery. I love mixing textures and colors!
Step 7: Add Decorative Elements
To make my arrangement more festive, I add in some decorative elements like pinecones, berries, and any sparkly bits I might have lying around. A little glitz always adds to the fun!
Step 8: Finish with Ribbon and Final Touches
To complete the arrangement, I take the decorative ribbon and tie a lovely bow around the neck of the vase. I step back to admire my creation and make any final adjustments.
Step 9: Water and Display
Finally, I fill the vase with water to keep the flowers hydrated. I make sure everything is looking good and then find the perfect spot in my home to display my festive holiday flower arrangement!
