Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather All Your Supplies
I start by laying out all my equipment on my craft mat. This includes the floral wire, floral tape, flowers, greenery, wire cutters, scissors, ribbon, my trusty hot glue gun, glue sticks, waterproof spray sealant, a bowl of water, protective gloves, measuring tape, and my notebook and pen.
Step 2: Measure and Cut the Floral Wire
I take the measuring tape and measure a length of floral wire, typically about 24 inches long, depending on the size of my head. I cut it with my wire cutters to prepare the base for my crown.
Step 3: Shape the Crown Base
Holding the cut floral wire, I gently bend it into a circle to create the crown shape. I make sure it fits comfortably on my head. Once I’m satisfied, I twist the ends together to secure the shape.
Step 4: Prepare the Flowers and Greenery
I pick my favorite flowers and greenery and place them in a bowl of water. It’s important to keep them hydrated while I work. I also trim the stems to about 2-3 inches long for easier handling.
Step 5: Attach Flowers to the Base
Starting at one point on the crown base, I take a flower and position it against the wire. I wrap floral tape around the stem and wire to secure it. Then I add greenery around the flower to create a lush look.
Step 6: Continue Adding Flowers
I keep adding flowers and greenery, working my way around the crown base, making sure to mix colors and textures. I keep securing each stem with floral tape.
Step 7: Secure the Entire Crown
When I’ve filled the crown to my liking, I make sure all flowers and greenery are solidly attached. I may add a bit more floral tape where needed, reinforcing any loose areas.
Step 8: Add Ribbon or Extra Decor
I cut a length of ribbon and tie it around the back of the crown for added decoration and to give it a pretty finish. If I want, I can also attach more decorative elements with the hot glue gun!
Step 9: Seal Your Creation
To make the crown last longer, I take the waterproof spray sealant and lightly spray it over the flowers, holding it at an appropriate distance. This helps protect my beautiful creation from wilting.
Step 10: Final Touches
I take a moment to admire my flower crown and make any final adjustments. I write down my flower choices and techniques in my notebook for future reference.
Step 11: Wear and Enjoy!
Finally, I put the crown on my head, take a few selfies, and enjoy my lovely floral masterpiece! It’s the perfect accessory for a sunny day or a festival vibe.
