Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather My Equipment
I start by laying out all my equipment on a clean workspace. I've got my chalkboard, chalk markers, wooden easel, menu clips, acrylic sign holder, magnetic menu board, Velcro strips, craft paper, stickers/decal, digital signage software, tablet, menu board frame, laminator, and printer all ready to go!
Step 2: Choose My Menu Style
Before I jump into the creation, I think about the style of my menu. Do I want it to feel rustic and handmade, or sleek and modern? I decide to go with a rustic chalkboard look.
Step 3: Prepare the Chalkboard
I take my chalkboard and clean it thoroughly to make sure it's free from dust and smudges. Then I set it on the wooden easel - it's starting to look good!
Step 4: Design My Layout
Using the chalk markers, I lightly sketch out where I want to place the items on my menu board. I think about the different menu sections like appetizers, entrees, and desserts.
Step 5: Handwrite My Menu Items
Now comes the fun part! I write my menu items using the chalk markers. I choose a fun font style to make it visually interesting and playful. I also add some doodles of food items around the menu.
Step 6: Add Decorations with Stickers
To make it pop even more, I grab my stickers and decals. I stick some cute food-related stickers around the corners of the chalkboard to give it character.
Step 7: Create Digital Version
I open my digital signage software on my tablet and create a digital version of my menu. I match the aesthetics of the chalkboard with digital fonts and images.
Step 8: Print Out Menu Items
Next, I print out the digital menu items onto craft paper using my printer. I want to have some printed options for special events or takeout.
Step 9: Laminating for Durability
To make sure my printed craft paper menus last, I run them through the laminator. This will protect them from spills and tears.
Step 10: Display Options
I decide I want to use both the chalkboard for daily specials and the laminated menus for takeout. I use menu clips to attach the laminated menus to the magnetic menu board and stick it near the entrance.
Step 11: Final Touches and Arrangement
I place the chalkboard with my handwritten menu on the easel, arrange the laminated menus on the magnetic board, and ensure everything is neatly organized.
Step 12: Step Back and Admire
Finally, I step back and admire my work. The custom menu board looks inviting and well-organized. I can't wait for my guests to see it!
