Lately, I've been daydreaming about creating a vibrant photo display with washi tape, and honestly, it feels like such a fun, creative outlet! Don’t you just love the idea of using those colorful tapes to showcase memories? It’s like giving your walls a whole new personality! I remember the last time I tried to put up pictures, I used boring old pins and it just felt... so lifeless, you know? But with washi tape, it’ll be like each photo has its own little celebration! And what better way to turn a simple hallway into a gallery of my joys and adventures? How can something so simple make me feel so excited? I can't wait to see how my friends react when they come over and find a piece of my heart stuck up with the cutest tape ever!
Items You’ll Need
- Washi tape
- Photos or prints
- Scissors
- Baseboard or wall
- Ruler
- Pencil or erasable marker
- Level
- Photo holders (optional)
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather Materials
First, I make sure I have all my equipment ready. I gather my washi tape in various colors, my photos or prints, scissors, a ruler, a pencil or an erasable marker, a level, and some photo holders if I want to use them.
Step 2: Choose a Location
Next, I find the perfect spot on the baseboard or wall where I want to create my photo display. I take a moment to visualize how it will look.
Step 3: Plan the Layout
Using my ruler, I measure out the space and decide how many photos I want to display and their arrangement. I take my pencil and lightly mark where I want the top corners of my photos to be.
Step 4: Level It Out
Before I start sticking down my washi tape, I use the level to make sure my marked lines are straight. I adjust as necessary so that everything will look neat.
Step 5: Cut Washi Tape
Now comes the fun part! I cut strips of washi tape in various lengths, depending on how I want to secure my photos. I choose fun colors that complement my prints.
Step 6: Attach Photos with Washi Tape
I take one of my photos and center it on the wall where I made my marks. I use my pieces of washi tape to adhere it to the wall, making a little tape border around the edges. I repeat this for each photo, creating a unique collage.
Step 7: Add Finishing Touches
I step back to review my layout. If I have any extra pieces of washi tape, I consider adding decorative lines or designs around the photos to make it more whimsical.
Step 8: Optional: Use Photo Holders
If I'm feeling extra creative or want to protect my prints, I can slide my photos into cute photo holders. I can then display these holders using the washi tape.
Step 9: Step Back and Admire
Finally, I take some time to admire my creation! I take a picture of my fun new photo display to share with friends.
