You know that moment when you’re washing your hands and you realize how much plastic we go through just for soap? Ugh, it drives me nuts! I mean, why not make something beautiful and practical out of what we already have lying around? Lately, I’ve been daydreaming about creating my own soap dispenser using recycled materials. How cool would it feel to transform an old glass jar or a fancy bottle that’s been gathering dust into something that not only looks good but also helps the planet? Just the other day, I found a cute little mason jar at the back of my cupboard and it got me thinking – could this be the start of my mini-revolution against waste? Why not, right? Let’s get crafty and turn our trash into treasure!

- Hot glue gun
- Cork or stopper
- Funnel
- Paint or decorating materials
- Sandpaper
- Label or marker
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gathering Materials
First things first, I rummage through my recycling bin and gather my materials! I've got a plastic bottle, some soap, scissors, electrical tape, a hot glue gun, a cork (or stopper), a funnel, some paint and decorating materials, sandpaper, and labels or markers. It's time to get creative!
Step 2: Preparing the Bottle
Next, I take the plastic bottle and remove any labels using warm soapy water to clean it thoroughly. Then, I dry it and get ready to make an opening for the soap to dispense from.
Step 3: Cutting the Top
Using my scissors, I carefully cut a hole in the plastic bottle cap. This is where my cork will fit snugly, so I make sure it's not too big—just a bit larger than the cork's diameter for a tight fit!
Step 4: Creating the Dispenser
I now take the cork and poke a small hole through it using the scissors. This is where the soap will flow out. I insert the cork into the bottle cap, ensuring it fits well and seals properly.
Step 5: Merging the Parts
Time to put it all together! I apply hot glue around the edge of the cap where it meets the bottle. Once dry, it should hold everything in place nicely!
Step 6: Adding the Soap
I grab my funnel and pour in my favorite liquid soap into the bottle. I have to be careful not to overfill it or it will spill when I put the cork in!
Step 7: Finishing Touches
With the soap inside, I take some sandpaper and gently smooth out any rough edges on the cork and the cap. This will help prevent any sharp bits that could ruin my masterpiece.
Step 8: Decorating My Dispenser
Now, it’s time for the fun part—decorating! Using my paint and various materials, I get all crafty. I decide to give it a bright color and doodle some fun designs all over the bottle!
Step 9: Labeling My Creation
After the paint dries, I use a marker to write 'Soap Dispenser' on a label and stick it on my bottle. Now everyone will know what it is!
Step 10: Final Assembly
The last step is to give it a final inspect and ensure everything is tight and secure. I check that the cork can be pulled slightly to dispense soap, and voilà, my recycled soap dispenser is complete!
Step 11: Show Off My Creation
I proudly place my new soap dispenser on the sink and can’t wait to show it off to friends and family. It not only looks great but also helps the environment by reusing materials!
