You know that feeling when you’ve just finished a long day, and all you want is to escape into a world of creativity? That’s me, sitting here with a pile of colorful paper, totally caught up in the idea of designing a ferris wheel. I mean, how cool would it be to watch a little paper car spin around, carrying joy in such a simple way? I remember this one summer at the county fair, staring wide-eyed at the twinkling lights and the laughter of kids all around. What if I could bring a slice of that magic to life right here at my desk? Isn’t it amazing how something as simple as paper can turn into a symbol of adventure and happiness? I can almost hear the distant carnival music now. Where do I even start with this whimsical project?

Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gathering Materials
I started my project by gathering all the materials I would need. I found some cardstock, scissors, glue, a craft knife, a ruler, a pencil, brads, paint, string, a circle template, and some decorative stickers. Having everything ready made me feel excited to get started!
Step 2: Drawing the Wheel
Using the circle template, I traced two large circles on the cardstock for the main part of the Ferris wheel. I made sure they were the same size for balance, and I also used the ruler to draw a smaller circle for the center.
Step 3: Cutting Out the Circles
Next, I carefully cut out the two large circles and the small center circle with my scissors. I took my time to make sure the cuts were smooth and even.
Step 4: Creating the Spokes
I then got the ruler and divided the edges of the large circles into sections where I would attach the 'spokes.' I cut out several strips of paper, about ½ inch wide, to serve as spokes connecting the center circle to the outer wheels.
Step 5: Attaching the Spokes
With the glue, I attached one end of each spoke to the center circle and the other ends to the large outer circles, spacing them evenly around the wheel. This made the Ferris wheel start to take shape!
Step 6: Making the Seats
I used my circle template again to create smaller circles for the seats of the ferris wheel. I cut out six of these and decorated them with paint and markers to make them colorful and fun.
Step 7: Attaching the Seats
Using the brads, I attached each seat to the end of the spokes. This allowed them to swing and move a little, just like real Ferris wheel seats! I secured them carefully so they wouldn't fall off.
Step 8: Creating the Base
I decided my Ferris wheel needed a sturdy base. I used a piece of thick paper as the base platform and glued down the Ferris wheel structure onto it to stabilize it.
Step 9: Adding Decorative Touches
To make it more festive, I added some decorative stickers and embellishments to the Ferris wheel and the base. Bright colors really brought the whole thing to life!
Step 10: Finalizing with Paint
Finally, I used paint to add some finishing touches—stripes on the seats and a bright color on the wheel itself. It looked amazing and ready to showcase!
Step 11: Making It Move!
For an extra fun feature, I decided to add some string to the top of the Ferris wheel to hang it up. Now it could spin gently as it hung, just like a real Ferris wheel! I was so pleased with my creation!
