You know that feeling when the weekend rolls around, and you’re just itching for something fun to do with the family? Well, I decided it’s high time to create a cheerful family activity jar to chase away those monotonous moments! 💖 I mean, how many times have we ended up scrolling through our phones, trying to figure out what to do? What if instead, we had a colorful jar filled with ideas, just beckoning us to pick one? I was reminded of that time we spontaneously painted the backyard fence – the laughter and paint splatters still make me giggle! So, why not capture that magic and ensure we always have a fun idea at our fingertips? Let’s get crafting and fill that jar with joy!
Items You’ll Need

- Colorful Paper or Cardstock
- Markers or Pens
- Decorative Stickers
- Ribbon or Twine
- Scissors
- Glue or Tape
- Crafting Tools
- Printable Activity Ideas
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather Your Supplies
First, I gather all my materials: a Mason jar, colorful paper or cardstock, markers or pens, decorative stickers, ribbon or twine, scissors, glue or tape, any crafting tools, and my printable activity ideas.
Step 2: Cut the Paper
I take the colorful paper and cut it into small strips, about 1 inch wide and 4 inches long. This will be perfect for writing down our activity ideas!
Step 3: Write the Activities
Next, I pick a few of the printable activity ideas and start writing them on the colorful paper strips with my markers. I make sure to use different colors and fun, bubbly writing to make them cheerful!
Step 4: Decorate the Paper
Once I’ve written all the activity ideas, I grab my decorative stickers and add them to the paper strips. Stars, smiley faces, and other fun stickers go a long way in making them look appealing!
Step 5: Fold the Strips
Now, I fold each of the paper strips in half so they can fit nicely in the jar. This also keeps the activity secret until we're ready to pick one!
Step 6: Fill the Jar
I carefully place all the folded activity strips into the Mason jar. I love watching it fill up with all the vibrant colors of paper. It’s starting to look really cheerful!
Step 7: Decorate the Jar
To add a finishing touch, I take some ribbon and tie a bow around the neck of the Mason jar. I also add a few stickers on the jar itself to make it even more inviting!
Step 8: Set It Up
Finally, I place the cheerful family activity jar in a visible spot in our home. I can’t wait for our family to pick activities from it during our quality time together!
Step 9: Enjoy the Activities
Now, whenever we want a fun family activity, we can simply shake the jar, pull out a strip, and enjoy our time together! I'm so excited to see what we’ll do next!
