There's just something so magical about the holidays, isn’t there? I mean, who doesn’t love that warm, fuzzy feeling when you step into a room filled with twinkling lights and handmade decorations? I've been thinking, maybe it’s time to pull out some felt and get crafty. Can you believe I still remember sitting at my grandma's table, cutting out little felt shapes while she hummed along to holiday tunes? It was such a cozy moment! So, wouldn’t it be fun to recreate that feeling now, as an adult? What if I could make something special this year that adds that unique, personal touch? There's something about creating with your hands that just deepens the joy of the season. Did I mention how plush and colorful felt is? Let’s see where this little project takes me!

Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather My Equipment
I start by gathering all my equipment: felt sheets in various colors, scissors, my trusty hot glue gun and glue sticks, a needle and thread, some festive ribbons, colorful felt pom poms, stencils for some fun shapes, and markers or fabric pens for decoration. I set everything out on my craft mat in a cozy, well-lit space.
Step 2: Choose a Design
Next, I decide what kind of holiday decoration I want to make. I grab my stencils and lay them out on the felt sheets. I think a cute snowman or a Christmas tree would be perfect. I choose a tree design—it's festive and brings a smile!
Step 3: Cut the Felt
I take my green felt sheet and place the stencil on it, holding it steady. With my scissors, I carefully cut around the stencil to create the shape of the tree. The smell of fresh felt fills the air as I cut. I also cut out a brown rectangle for the trunk.
Step 4: Add Layers
I want my tree to have dimension, so I cut out a few more shapes of decreasing sizes from different colored felt sheets—like light green and yellow. These will be layered on the tree to give it a more festive look!
Step 5: Glue the Pieces
Now, it’s time to use my hot glue gun! I carefully start gluing the layers of felt onto the green tree base, starting from the bottom and moving up. This creates a lovely layered effect that makes my tree pop! I secure the brown trunk at the base too.
Step 6: Decorate with Pom Poms
To add some more holiday cheer, I take my felt pom poms in bright colors—reds, whites, and golds. I glue them on the tree randomly as ornaments. Each pom pom brings a fun, tactile feel to my decoration!
Step 7: Add Ribbons
Next, I cut some lengths of ribbon to create a bow for the top of the tree and to simulate a garland. I tie the ribbons and glue the bow at the very top. The garland ribbon will be glued across the tree.
Step 8: Draw and Personalize
Using my markers and fabric pens, I write ‘Happy Holidays’ on a piece of felt, and I cut it out to glue it onto the base of the tree. I’ll also add some decorative swirls and stars to give it more personality!
Step 9: Display My Creation
Finally, once everything is dry, I find the perfect spot on my mantel to display my beautiful felt holiday decoration. I step back and admire my handiwork, feeling pleased and festive!
