Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather All Supplies
First, I gather all my supplies: outdoor paint, brushes, my canvas or wood panels, glue gun, glue sticks, scissors, marker, and all those other fun items I listed. It's time to get creative!
Step 2: Sketch Your Design
Next, I take my marker or pencil and start sketching out my ideas on the canvas or wood panel. I want to create something vibrant that captures the spirit of summer, like flowers, suns, or butterflies!
Step 3: Paint the Base
Now, I start with the base color. I choose a bright sky blue and paint the entire background of my canvas. I let the paint dry fully before moving on to the fun details!
Step 4: Add Creative Elements
Once the base is dry, it’s time to bring my design to life! I pull out my stencils and start painting flowers and designs on top of the blue background. The colors pop beautifully!
Step 5: Prepare Mosaic Accents
With my canvas painting drying, I focus on my mosaic tiles. Using scissors or a wire cutter, I cut the tiles into smaller pieces for added texture. I lay them out on the canvas to see where they’ll go.
Step 6: Glue the Mosaic Tiles
Using my glue gun, I carefully attach each mosaic piece to the canvas. It’s turning out to be such a colorful addition! I let it sit to ensure everything sticks.
Step 7: Seal Your Artwork
To protect my artwork from the elements, I take my spray sealant and spray a light coat over the entire piece. This will help it withstand rain and summer sun!
Step 8: Decorate the Planter Box
While that dries, I take my planter boxes or pots. I paint them in complementary colors, then add natural string or twine around the top to give it a rustic feel.
Step 9: Add Fairy Lights
I love shining lights, especially at night! I grab my LED fairy lights and gently wrap them around the planter or art piece. It provides such a magical glow!
Step 10: Choose a Great Spot
Finally, I decide where my garden art piece will go. I find a sunny spot in my garden that’s visible and surrounded by blooms, making it a vibrant focal point!
Step 11: Enjoy Your Art
And there it is! My summertime garden art piece is done! I take a step back and admire my hard work, excited to show it off and enjoy it all summer long.
