Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather Your Equipment
First things first! Let’s gather all of our fabulous equipment. I’m grabbing the wax, beautiful candle jars, the perfect wicks, delightful fragrance oils, and if I’m feeling a bit colorful, some dye! Don’t forget the double boiler, thermometer, pouring pitcher, stirring sticks, hot glue gun, scale, and of course, my safety gear!
Step 2: Measure the Wax
Now comes the fun part: measuring the wax! I’m heading to my scale with the wax and weighing out how much I need based on the size of my jars. This is going to be awesome!
Step 3: Melt the Wax
Let’s melt that wax! I’m setting up my double boiler on the stove and placing the wax in the top pot. While it's melting, I’ll stir it occasionally, keeping an eye on it. I can already smell the anticipation!
Step 4: Add Fragrance and Color
Once the wax is melted perfectly, I’m taking my thermometer and checking that it’s at the right temperature. Then it’s time for the fragrance oil! I’ll pour it in and stir it well. If I’m feeling extra creative, I’ll add a few drops of the dye now. It’s starting to look like candle magic!
Step 5: Prepare the Wicks
While the wax is cooling slightly, I’m prepping my wicks! I’ll use my hot glue gun to attach the wick to the bottom center of each jar. This keeps it stable when I pour the melted wax in. Let’s make sure those wicks are nice and snug!
Step 6: Pour the Wax
It's time to pour! I’m carefully pouring the melted wax into each jar, making sure to leave a bit of space at the top. This is the moment when my aromatic candles start to take shape!
Step 7: Secure the Wicks
To keep the wicks centered as the wax hardens, I’m using a wooden stick to hold them in place. I’ll lay it across the top of the jar and stick the wick through it. Genius!
Step 8: Let Them Cool
I’m going to let my candles cool completely. This is the hardest part - waiting! I can already imagine the cozy ambiance and delightful scents they will provide.
Step 9: Trim the Wicks
Once they’re fully cool and solid, I’m trimming the wicks to about 1/4 inch above the wax surface. This’ll help ensure they burn evenly and beautifully.
Step 10: Enjoy Your Creation
Finally, it’s time to light them up! I’m taking my aromatic candle jars, finding the perfect spot to display them, and lighting the wick. The room fills with the intoxicating fragrance of my hard work - pure bliss!
