Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather Inspiration
First, I take some time to browse through Pinterest and nature blogs to gather inspiration for my wall decor. I want to create something unique and beautiful using natural materials!
Step 2: Collect Natural Materials
Next, I head outside to collect some wooden branches, moss, dried flowers, and interesting leaves. I also gather feathers, shells, and stones to add variety to my design.
Step 3: Prepare My Workspace
I set up my workspace on a clean table, laying down some newspaper to keep everything tidy. I pull out all my materials: twine, a glue gun, paint, scissors, and my frame or canvas.
Step 4: Design the Layout
I start arranging my collected materials on the frame or canvas. I play around with the layout, placing branches as the base, adding moss for texture, and then layering the dried flowers strategically.
Step 5: Secure the Base
Using my glue gun, I begin to secure the wooden branches onto the frame. I apply a generous amount of glue and hold them in place until it dries. I love how rustic they look!
Step 6: Add Layers of Nature
Once the branches are secured, I start adding moss in between them. The green moss adds a beautiful contrast against the wood. I glue it down carefully to make sure it stays put.
Step 7: Incorporate Dried Flowers
Now, it's time for the dried flowers! I cut the stems to the desired lengths and glue them in clusters throughout the design. Their delicate colors add a lovely pop to my decor.
Step 8: Personal Touches
I search for interesting shells and stones to sprinkle around the flowers and moss for added texture and natural beauty. I even decide to hang some feathers using twine for a whimsical touch.
Step 9: Finalize with Paint (if desired)
If I want to add more personality, I grab my paints or stains and gently apply a wash to some parts of the wood. This brings out the grain and adds depth to the piece!
Step 10: Let it Dry
I step back and admire my work! Before I move on, I make sure everything is secure and let it dry completely. This is the hardest part—waiting!
Step 11: Hang and Enjoy
Once everything is dry, I attach hooks or nails at the top and find the perfect spot on my wall. I hang my beautiful, natural wall decor and feel such a sense of accomplishment!
