- Wicks
- Wick holder
- Double boiler or melting pot
- Thermometer
- Color dye for wax
- Essential oils or fragrance oils
- Stirring sticks or spoons
- Protective gloves
- Table covering or newspaper
- Scissors
- Tape or glue dots
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Prepare your workspace
Cover your work area with newspaper or a table covering to protect it from spills and drips.
Step 2: Choose your jars
Select the glass jars you want to use for your candle holders. Clean them thoroughly to remove any dust or residues.
Step 3: Prepare the wick
Cut the wick to the desired length, ensuring it is tall enough to extend above the jar. Use tape or glue dots to secure the wick holder at the bottom of the jar.
Step 4: Melt the wax
Use a double boiler or melting pot to melt the candles or wax. Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature, aiming for about 170-180°F (77-82°C).
Step 5: Add color and fragrance
Once the wax is melted, add color dye and essential oils or fragrance oils. Stir well with a stirring stick or spoon to ensure even distribution.
Step 6: Pour the wax
Carefully pour the melted wax into the prepared glass jars. Leave some space at the top of the jars, typically around 1/2 inch.
Step 7: Secure the wick
Make sure the wick stays centered and upright as the wax cools. You can use additional wick holders or tools to keep it in place.
Step 8: Allow to cool
Let the wax cool completely, which may take a few hours. Avoid moving the jars during this time.
Step 9: Trim the wick
Once the wax has cooled and solidified, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch above the surface of the wax.
Step 10: Final touches
Clean up any drips or spills from the jars and store your candle holders in a safe place until you are ready to use them.
