Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather your supplies
I start by collecting all my equipment: glass candle holders, candle wax, wicks, essential oils, color dyes, and my trusty double boiler. It's exciting to lay everything out in front of me!
Step 2: Prepare the workspace
Next, I spread out newspaper or craft paper on my work surface to catch any spills. I put on my protective gear because safety comes first - I don’t want any wax splatters on my clothes!
Step 3: Melt the wax
I place the candle wax in the double boiler. As it melts, I enjoy the sweet smell and watch it turn from solid to liquid. I keep an eye on the thermometer to make sure it reaches the right temperature for pouring.
Step 4: Add color and fragrance
Once the wax is melted, I take it off the heat and add a few drops of color dye. Watching the dye swirl through the wax is mesmerizing! Then, I add my chosen essential oil for a lovely fragrance. I stir it all together.
Step 5: Prepare the wicks
While my wax cools slightly, I prepare my wicks. I snip them to the right height using my scissors. I then use the hot glue gun to secure the wick at the bottom of my glass candle holders.
Step 6: Pour the wax
I carefully pour the colorful wax into the glass candle holders. It’s a bit tricky, but I want to make sure it goes into each one evenly. I love seeing the colors layer in the holders.
Step 7: Let the candles set
I set the candle holders aside to cool and harden. I admire my vibrant creations as they begin to take shape. I feel a sense of accomplishment even before they’re finished!
Step 8: Trim the wicks
After the candles have fully set and cooled, I take them out and trim the wicks to about 1/4 inch above the wax surface. This will help them burn better and look neat.
Step 9: Final touches
I check each candle holder and clean up any mess around the edges. Maybe I’ll add a little decorative ribbon around the glass or label them with their fragrance!
Step 10: Enjoy your colorful candle holders
Finally, I light my finished candles and watch the pretty colors glow. The room fills with the fragrance I chose, and I feel proud of my colorful candle holders!
