I’ve been thinking about making my own holiday gift tags this year—who doesn’t love that personal touch, right? I mean, what’s more heartwarming than tearing open a beautifully wrapped present, only to find a tag scribbled with love and a little inside joke? It’s those little things that make the holidays feel so special. Last year, I just bought generic tags, and they felt so... impersonal, you know? Did anyone even notice them? This time, I want it to be different. Maybe I can use some craft paper, maybe throw in some glitter or a cute little drawing... What do you think? Wouldn’t it be fun to sprinkle some of my personality onto each gift? I can already picture my friends’ smiles as they unwrap something that feels uniquely me.

Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather Your Materials
I start by gathering all my materials. I pull out the cardstock paper, markers, scissors, glue stick, hole puncher, string, and any decorative items like stickers or ribbons that I've picked up. I love having everything ready before I dive into making my gift tags.
Step 2: Cut the Cardstock
Next, I cut the cardstock into the desired sizes for the gift tags. I usually make them about 2 inches by 4 inches. I like to mix and match colors, so I cut a few in red, a few in green, and some in festive patterns.
Step 3: Use Templates for Shapes
To add a fun twist, I use templates to create different shapes for my tags. I trace around star, tree, and heart shaped templates on my cardstock and then cut them out. It makes each tag unique!
Step 4: Decorate the Tags
Now the fun begins! I grab my markers and start writing 'To' and 'From' on each tag. I embellish them with doodles, swirls, and festive phrases. Sometimes I'll apply glue and stick on some glitter or stickers to make them pop.
Step 5: Punch Holes
Once I've decorated my tags, I take my hole puncher and make a hole at one end of each tag. This will be where I thread the string or twine later. I make sure to space the holes evenly and keep them neat.
Step 6: Add String or Twine
I cut pieces of string or twine, about 6-8 inches long, and thread them through the holes I just punched. I tie them into cute bows or simple knots, depending on my mood. This is where the tags start to feel festive!
Step 7: Optional Embellishments
For an extra special touch, I consider using my embossing tool. I take a few tags and emboss them with holiday-themed designs. It adds texture and makes the tags feel luxurious!
Step 8: Final Touches
I take a step back and admire my work. If I feel like it, I might add a few more stickers or a little ribbon on top for a pop of color. Now my gift tags are ready to adorn my holiday gifts!
