You know those days when everything just feels like too much? I’ve been there—juggling work, social life, and the never-ending to-do list, I often find myself dreaming about sinking into a warm, soothing bath. Wouldn’t it be amazing to turn my bathroom into a mini spa oasis? So, I thought, why not make some homemade bath salts? I remember a time when I was gifted a lovely jar of lavender bath salts, and oh boy, it was like dipping into a dream. The idea of recreating that blissful experience at home is just too tempting to resist. Plus, doesn’t the thought of a little self-care sound perfect right now?
Items You’ll Need
- Mixing Bowl
- Measuring Cups
- Measuring Spoons
- Spoon or Whisk
- Airtight Container
- Essential Oils
- Food Coloring (optional)
- Epsom Salt
- Sea Salt or Pink Himalayan Salt
- Dried Herbs or Flowers (optional)
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather Your Equipment
First things first! I gather all my equipment. I place my Mixing Bowl, Measuring Cups, and Measuring Spoons on the counter. I make sure to have my Spoon or Whisk ready to go, as well as my Airtight Container for storing the bath salts later. I also round up my essential oils - I love lavender for relaxation, and I might grab some dried petals if I have them!
Step 2: Measure the Salts
Next, I take my Measuring Cups and scoop out 1 cup of Epsom Salt and 1 cup of Sea Salt (or Pink Himalayan Salt if I’m feeling fancy!). I pour them into my Mixing Bowl and admire the beautiful blend of colors. This is already feeling soothing!
Step 3: Add Essential Oils
Now comes the fun part - adding essential oils! I take my bottle of lavender oil and measure out about 10-15 drops. The scent is intoxicating! I pour it into the bowl, and I can already imagine how relaxing my bath will be.
Step 4: Mix It All Together
Time to mix! I grab my Spoon or Whisk and stir everything together really well. I want the essential oils to be distributed evenly throughout the salts. As I mix, I can smell the delightful aroma wafting up. It feels therapeutic just to stir!
Step 5: Add Color (Optional)
If I feel like adding some visual flair, I grab my Food Coloring. I add just a drop or two and mix again. This gives my bath salts a lovely hue. Today I decide on a soft purple to match my lavender theme. So pretty!
Step 6: Incorporate Dried Herbs or Flowers (Optional)
If I have any dried herbs or flowers handy, now is the time to add them. I sprinkle in some dried lavender flowers and stir lightly to fold them into the mixture. They've got that lovely natural fragrance too!
Step 7: Store in Airtight Container
Once everything is combined perfectly, I take my Airtight Container and carefully pour the mixture in. I love watching the colors swirl together as they settle. Once it’s all in, I seal it shut. My homemade bath salts are now ready to go!
Step 8: Enjoy Your Relaxation Time
Finally, it's time to indulge! I run a warm bath and add a generous scoop of my beautiful bath salts. The water turns into a fragrant oasis of tranquility. I step in and let the relaxation wash over me. Heaven!
