Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been obsessed with the idea of making my own beauty products. Isn’t there something so magical about crafting a lip balm that you know is completely natural? I remember sitting on my grandma’s porch, watching her mix herbs and oils, and thinking it was pure alchemy! It got me wondering - why not recreate that feeling of joy and nostalgia in my own kitchen? How amazing would it feel to slather on something I made myself, knowing exactly what’s in it? I can’t help but get excited at the thought of experimenting with different flavors and textures. Who’s with me on this DIY journey?

Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients
I start by gathering all my ingredients. I love the smell of beeswax, coconut oil, and shea butter. I get my essential oils ready—lavender and peppermint are my favorites. I arrange everything on my kitchen counter.
Step 2: Measure the Ingredients
Using my measuring cups and spoons, I measure out a tablespoon of beeswax, two tablespoons of coconut oil, and one tablespoon of shea butter. I use a scale for accuracy, especially with the beeswax!
Step 3: Melt the Ingredients
I place my beeswax, coconut oil, and shea butter into the top of my double boiler. If I don’t have one, I can use a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water. I turn on the heat and watch as everything starts to melt together into a beautiful golden mixture.
Step 4: Add Essential Oils
Once everything is melted and mixed well, I take it off the heat and let it cool for a moment. I add a few drops of my essential oils—maybe five drops of lavender for that calming scent, and two drops of peppermint for a refreshing kick.
Step 5: Stir the Mixture
With my stirring spoon, I mix everything together until the essential oils are fully blended into the base. The mixture looks glossy and fabulous!
Step 6: Pour into Containers
I grab my lip balm tubes and position them carefully on a towel to catch any drips. Using a dropper or pipette, I begin to pour the warm mixture into each tube. This is the fun part—seeing it fill up makes me feel accomplished!
Step 7: Let It Cool
Once poured, I let the lip balm cool at room temperature. I watch as it solidifies, transforming from liquid to a smooth balm. I can't wait to try it!
Step 8: Label the Tubes
After a few minutes, I take my labels and write ‘Lavender Peppermint Lip Balm’ on each one. I carefully apply a label to each tube; they look so cute and professional now!
Step 9: Testing Time!
Finally, it's time to test my creation. I twist up the balm and apply it to my lips. It feels incredibly smooth, and the scent is heavenly! I can't wait to gift some to my friends.
