Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather Materials
First, I gather all my materials: Cork sheets, photo printing paper, Mod Podge, scissors, sponge brush, clear acrylic sealer, cutting mat, printer, and ruler. Getting everything ready is half the fun!
Step 2: Choose Photos
I sit down with my family and we pick out our favorite family photos. It's a lovely trip down memory lane, and we have a good laugh reminiscing.
Step 3: Print Photos
Next, I load the photo printing paper into my printer and print out the selected photos. I make sure to size them correctly so they fit perfectly on the cork coasters!
Step 4: Cut Cork Sheets
Using my ruler and craft knife, I measure and cut the cork sheets into squares or circles, depending on what shape I want for my coasters. It's important to make sure they're all uniform.
Step 5: Cut Photos to Size
Now it’s time to cut the printed photos. I carefully trim them to match the size of the cork pieces I cut earlier, ensuring a perfect fit.
Step 6: Apply Mod Podge
With my sponge brush, I apply a layer of Mod Podge onto the cork. This will help the photo stick to the cork. I make sure to cover the entire surface!
Step 7: Attach Photos
I carefully place one of my cut photos on the coated cork and press down firmly. I smooth out any bubbles, making sure it adheres well. I repeat this for all the cork pieces.
Step 8: Seal the Coasters
After letting them dry for a bit, I apply another layer of Mod Podge over the top of each photo. This is important to protect the images. I let it dry, then add a final layer.
Step 9: Spray with Clear Acrylic Sealer
Once everything is dry, I take my clear acrylic sealer and spray a light coat over each coaster. This will give it extra durability and make it waterproof!
Step 10: Final Touches
I let the sealer dry thoroughly, and then I admire my work! The personalized coasters look fantastic. I can’t wait to use them at our next family gathering!
