Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Gather Your Equipment
First things first, I gather all of my equipment on a clean, flat surface. I want my Soy Wax, Candle Dye, Fragrance Oils, Molds, Wicks, Double Boiler, Thermometer, and everything else ready to go. It feels like setting up for a fun art project!
Step 2: Measure the Wax
Using my scale, I weigh out the right amount of Soy Wax. Generally, I use about 1 pound for a medium-sized candle. I can't wait to see how it transforms!
Step 3: Melt the Wax
I place my weighed wax into the Double Boiler. As the water heats up, I stir gently. The lovely creamy texture starts melting away, and it smells amazing! I keep an eye on the thermometer to ensure it reaches around 180°F.
Step 4: Add Fragrance and Dye
Once my wax is at the right temperature, I mix in my favorite fragrance oils. I love experimenting with different scents! Then, I add in the Candle Dye. This is where the fun begins—watching the wax change color as I stir, it's like making magic!
Step 5: Prepare the Molds
While my wax cools a little, I prepare my candle molds or containers. I make sure the wicks are centered and secured at the bottom; sometimes I use a bit of melted wax to hold them in place. This is so exciting, everything looks so colorful and ready!
Step 6: Pour the Wax
Now comes the moment of truth! I pour the melted wax into my molds carefully. I try to keep the pour steady to avoid bubbles, and I love watching the wax settle into place. Each mold is filled with vibrant colors!
Step 7: Let it Cool
After pouring, I let my candles sit and cool. It’s tough to wait, but I clean up my workspace during this time. I can already smell the delightful combinations of scents I've created!
Step 8: Trim the Wicks
Once the candles are sturdy and fully cooled, I carefully trim the wicks to about 1/4 inch above the wax. This little detail makes all the difference in how well the candle burns!
Step 9: Final Touches
If I want a smooth finish or to remove any imperfections, I use my Heat Gun or Hair Dryer to gently heat the surface of the candles. It melts the top slightly, making it flawless—and it’s adds a little extra shine!
Step 10: Label and Store
Finally, I label my candles with their scents and colors—this is my masterpiece! I store them in a cool, dry place, ready for the moment I get to light them up and enjoy the fruits of my labor.
